1. Improve focus when gaming: gentle plant power instead of caffeine

Whether in the office, studying or gaming: good focus is the recipe for success for almost everything. More performance, more time for the things you love and better gaming performance. If you lack focus, you can help. It can be hard and intense with a portion of caffeine, or gentle and caffeine-free.

There are also techniques you can use to improve your focus in the long term. We will introduce you to a few of them below.

Maybe you already know the Just Legends Performance Booster . Natural caffeine, amino acids and just the right amount of sugar give you a kick for full speed and focus. Ideal during the day. In the evening: not so much. Unless you intend to stay the night.

For more focus during your evening gaming session, we have developed the Just Legends Focus Spray : With theanine from green tea and functional extracts from ginseng and ginkgo. The combination of these functional plant substances with the spectrum of effectiveness of vitamins C, B2, B5, B6 and B12 keeps you focused and still allows you to go to bed relaxed.

Vitamin B5 contributes to normal mental performance , while vitamins C, B2, B5, B6, B12 contribute to the reduction of fatigue and normal energy metabolism. Vitamin C, B6, B12 support the normal functioning of the nervous system . Zinc and vitamin C contribute to maintaining normal vision and protecting cells from oxidative stress , thus rounding off the spectrum of effects of our Focus Spray.

Caffeine, stimulants and tingling fingers? You'll search in vain here.

But what exactly are functional ingredients? And where does the focus effect come from if not from caffeine? The secret is the spectrum of effects of the vitamins, which is rounded off by the combination with herbal ingredients.

Theanine, ginseng and ginkgo are integral parts of Far Eastern traditions and their effectiveness has yet to be recognized according to Western scientific standards. Nevertheless, research suggests that all three ingredients have connections to both focus and relaxation. 1

Exactly what you need to game with full focus in the evening and still sleep peacefully.

2. Theanine: the focal amino acid against fatigue

Theanine is a non-proteinogenic amino acid that occurs naturally in green tea. Green tea in particular is known for its high theanine content and is valued for its concentration-enhancing and relaxing effects . 2

This connection has so far only been specifically proven in animal experiments. Nevertheless, theanine is a popular nootropic that is gaining traction in the biohacking scene. Nootropics have been proven to have an effect on the human central nervous system.

Theanine, for example, is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Once it arrives in the brain, according to current scientific assumptions, it is converted into the neurotransmitter GABA, which can ensure a pleasant inner calm without making you tired. 3 Nevertheless, further research on humans is required for clear medical conclusions.

The FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) declares up to 250 mg of theanine daily to be safe. Fun fact: This is significantly less than some tea drinkers consume.

To support the spectrum of effects of vitamins B2, B5, B6, B12 and C, our Focus Spray contains 30 mg theanine per serving (7 sprays).

3. Ginseng & Ginkgo: Tradition against exhaustion

Ginseng is known in Eastern medicine and Ayurveda as a popular miracle potion against exhaustion and a gentle circulatory and immune booster . There are studies there that prove this effect, but they work according to different principles than Western studies.

The focus-supporting effect of ginseng is therefore based on the effect of ginsenosides, which support the brain's glucose uptake and thus promote focus. 4 This is how your body uses the energy already in its circulation - without the caffeine boost and its side effects.

Ginkgo extract is particularly popular because of its phytochemicals and is being studied in Western medicine for its positive effect on memory. 5 However, this research is still in its infancy.

4. Five tips for more focus when gaming and whenever you need it

Booster and focus spray are great helpers if your focus is lost while gaming, studying or in the office. Or on those days when nothing works at all. But: basically, you shouldn't just rely on the aids, but also train your ability to focus. It's like in the game: the more you play, the better you become. The less you play, the less experience you gain.

#1 Play what suits your skill level

Do you want flow & focus while gaming? Then choose a game that challenges you but doesn't overwhelm you. Whatever you can do, your brain goes into energy saving mode. There's so much to learn about everything you can't do that you quickly get tired and distracted when you first have to figure out exactly how it works.

#2 New game? Focus on what's important

Which brings us to the next point: Especially in strategy games or shooters, there are often a lot of little things that take place outside of the actual gameplay. But our brain cannot learn everything at once.

If you try that, you risk frustration instead of focus. Therefore, don't plan on rocking the entire game at once, but rather learn sequentially - one thing at a time.

#3 Define your goal

What do you want to achieve? What is your strategy for enjoying gaming and being fully focused? Do you really have to collect all the credits, experiences and goodies in every level? Or is 80% skills enough for you to get to the next level until you still get the final credits at some point? By being clear about what you want, you clear the way for greater focus.

#4 Breathe

It may sound esoteric or banal, but it is not. Breathing is your path to instant focus. Before gaming, sit down and breathe in and out really deeply 5-10 times. Feel your chest and stomach rising and falling. Close your eyes and concentrate on what is happening in your body. Forget everything else. When you open your eyes again, focus 100% on your game.

#5 Take a break

Do you notice that focus and flow are slowly fading away? Sometimes small breaks help to clear your brain and game again with more focus. Fresh air and exercise in particular are the best restart for the brain. Jog around the block for 10 minutes or open the window and do 20 jumping jacks. No matter what you do, the main thing is exercise and oxygen.

#6 Move

Speaking of movement: you are head and body. During focused gaming, the brain and hands are the main ones working. However, this works even better if the rest of your body is also fit. 2-3 weekly training sessions therefore improve your focus. You can find more tips for physical fitness in our article “Healthy despite sitting all the time” .

#7 Resolve conflicts

If not for others, then at least for you. Emotional chaos and particularly negative emotions always find their way into our heads. There can be so much going on on the screen.

For more focus when gaming, try to clarify your conflicts and issues beforehand . If that's not possible, make a conscious decision to leave the topic alone now. Maybe you can't change anything right now? Then there's no reason to drive you crazy. Also decide when you want to tackle the topic. Running away is not the solution, sometimes a little distraction is.

#8 Get organized

As grandma already knew: being organized is half of life. She's not entirely wrong. Open to-dos and unresolved topics floating around in your head can seriously ruin your game. However, you can easily erase what you have written down and organized from your mind. So: write it down, forget it, focus on gaming. And then do it conscientiously, of course. ;-)

#9 Pay attention to your diet

A balanced diet that doesn't send your blood sugar levels into a rollercoaster, that provides you with vitamins and micronutrients and leaves you full but doesn't leave you in a soup coma, improves your focus when gaming.

#10 Get some sleep

The no-brainer at the end: sleep is the prerequisite for more focus when gaming. Sleep enough, regularly and well. You can find more tips here: 7 tips to avoid sleeping badly after gaming .
