1. Computer off, recovery on. Melatonin makes it possible.

Takes your sleep game to the next level : Sleep & Recovery is based on the simple formula: 5g powder + 150 ml water = good night. Turn off the computer, mix, drink, brush your teeth and go to bed. Falling asleep has never been so easy.

a. What is Melatonin?

Melatonin is a natural messenger substance that interacts with cortisol to regulate your natural sleep-wake rhythm and can help you fall asleep faster after gaming. As soon as it gets dark, the pineal gland in the brain begins to produce melatonin and send it into the bloodstream. This is how it reaches various receptors throughout the body and presses the off button : it lowers blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature and puts you into rest state step by step.

b. How is melatonin created?

Melatonin is synthesized from the amino acid tryptophan in the brain . Tryptophan enters the bloodstream via the intestines, primarily from protein-rich foods, and passes through the blood-brain barrier. Once it arrives in the brain, it is further processed into both the happiness hormone serotonin and melatonin.

c. Cortisol vs. Melatonin: This is how your day-night rhythm works

Provided your internal clock is perfectly timed, melatonin and cortisol production flow seamlessly into one another. Cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, is the natural antagonist of melatonin . It makes you alert and productive. In short: Without cortisol, your performance is in the basement.

However, it depends on the right timing: If your biorhythm runs like a Swiss clock, melatonin production starts at dusk and slowly increases until it reaches its peak around 2-3 a.m. and then falls again. At the same time , cortisol levels decrease at dusk and fall to the same extent as melatonin levels rise.

If you have screen time, adrenaline rushes and full focus on your game in between, the clockwork gets out of sync: melatonin production remains low and cortisol levels high . Heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature remain in performance mode, even though your eyes may start to show signs of strain. The result: You can't fall asleep, you sleep restlessly and you're a hangover in the morning.

d. Taking hormones - is it healthy?

The body's own melatonin production is closely linked to light. Bright summer nights, screen light and quick bright images with lots of light changes reduce the body's production of melatonin and keep you awake.

Melatonin in Sleep & Recovery does nothing other than allow you to finish the level and still fall asleep faster after playing. Our melatonin is 100% natural and plant-based and does not contain any unnecessary additives. All other ingredients are also plant-based and perfectly coordinated. Therefore, no side effects are to be expected.

It is important that you stick to the specified dose of 5g powder per serving. This corresponds to 1.0 mg of melatonin. Up to 10 mg daily, melatonin is officially approved as an aid to falling asleep after gaming and is not addictive.

You can also do it differently: As soon as it gets dark earlier or you avoid monitors, smartphones, tablets, TV etc. about 3 hours before going to sleep and it's best to leave out artificial light, your body, specifically the pineal gland in the brain, will produce more melatonin all by itself. We think: Sounds realistic. Not.

2. Tradition meets studies: saffron versus gamer eyes

Spices for the eyes? Yes! Studies have found that highly concentrated ingredients in the traditional Indian spice saffron can protect your eyes from free radicals and screen light . 1 Saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world and is primarily used in natural medicine. Ayurvedic medicine also knows saffron as a regeneration booster for the eyes.

The applications in naturopathy are based primarily on thousands of years of experience and have not yet been finally recognized by the standards of western medicine. However, experience also has a certain value: after all, grandma was often right.

In recent years , modern Western physicians have also taken a closer look at saffron and its impact on eye health and have discovered evidence that saffron extract compensates for the additional strain on the eyes caused by blue light . The main reason for this is its antioxidant effect and the carotenoids it contains, 2 specifically crocin. 3

3. AffronEye®: Care package for strained eyes

In our Sleep & Recovery Powder we use the natural potential of saffron. AffronEye® is a study raw material that has two main fields of action that help tired eyes get back on their feet:

a. Carotenoids: Food for vision

Carotenoids are why your mom says, “Eat carrots, they’re good for square eyes.” Carotenoids are secondary plant substances that the body converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A contributes to maintaining normal vision.

b. Antioxidants: goodbye to eye stress

Antioxidants protect your body from free radicals . These are stressors that are caused, for example, by screen light, but also by tobacco, stress and other environmental influences. Free radicals make life difficult for your immune system and your eyes by attacking the cells. Antioxidants render these free radicals harmless and thus protect your cells.

According to some studies, the crocin contained in it has particularly strong antioxidant effects. 4 However, there are currently no solid scientific statements that are valid and approved globally. In addition, the saffron extract stimulates blood circulation in the retina and thus supports the removal of metabolic products.

AffronEye® is made from Spanish saffron, which is grown and processed under the highest quality standards. A particular advantage is the excellent water solubility , thanks to which the active ingredients of AffronEye® quickly develop their effect when dissolved in water.

4. That's why gamer eyes deserve an extra dose of wellness

The more exciting and faster your games, the more your eyes have to work. A little biology crash course : When light hits your retina, it converts the light into small nerve impulses. The optic nerve transmits them to the brain, where they become images.

In this complex case, signs of wear and tear occur on the light-sensory cells , which need to be renewed so that you can continue to see well. This creates waste products that have to be transported away. If this process is disrupted, the light-sensory cells gradually die - you see worse. This is a normal aging process that has nothing to do with gaming. Scientists suspect that blue light can accelerate this process , but do not yet have any representative data on this.

However, dry eyes can worsen your eye health and accelerate degenerative processes. 5 Dry eyes have many causes, most of which add up. A crucial factor is vitamin A deficiency . 6

5. Sleep well after gaming? Naturally!

Falling asleep quickly is great, waking up refreshed is better. That's why Just Legends Sleep & Recovery combines melatonin and AffronEye® with additional ingredients that complete the spectrum of effects and help you fall asleep faster after gaming. Your lowest common denominator? They are inspired by nature and based on plant-based raw materials.

a. magnesium

The mineral contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, as well as normal psychological function and normal functioning of the nervous system. It also plays a role in cell division, which is an important part of regenerative processes.

b. Passion flower and valerian extract

Do you remember valerian as Grandma’s bedtime drink? She was right: Valerian is also used in modern medicine to help you fall asleep and relieve inner restlessness.

The combination valerian + passionflower, which is officially approved as a sleep-supporting agent, is primarily used for sleep disorders as it can increase the body's production of the body's own y-aminobutyric acid GABA . GABA signals the central nervous system that it is time to calm down.

Apart from that, passion flower is used as a traditional medicinal plant not only against inner restlessness and nervousness, but also against stress, anxiety, irritability, headaches as well as against tension and back pain. Whether it actually works, however, has not yet been scientifically proven. But a little passionflower certainly can't hurt.

c. Melissa extract

Lemon balm has a relaxing effect, but has a different effect than valerian and passionflower. The combination of all three plant extracts therefore impresses with a particularly broad spectrum of effects.

Even if you didn't tolerate the pizza so well or snacked too late, lemon balm helps: It has a calming effect on the stomach by relaxing the intestinal muscles and reducing gas formation and the feeling of fullness. And as we all know, you sleep better without gas in your stomach.

d. Black pepper extract

Black pepper consists of approximately 5-10% piperine. Piperine stimulates blood circulation in the stomach and therefore promotes the absorption of nutrients . The faster Sleep & Recovery is recorded, the faster you will fall asleep.
